Dorp 56 is brewed on behalf of the restaurant of the same name in Adegem. It is brewed since 2016. A beer was sought in front of the restaurant that could accompany the meal from aperitif to dessert. So it had to be refreshing, but still sufficiently complex to handle the stronger and sweeter flavors as well.

It became a Black IPA (the second in Belgium). For a black IPA, in addition to the classic malts, dark roasted malts are also used that give the beer its typical aroma of coffee and dark chocolate.

Dryhopping is used at the end of the brewing process. This means that hop flowers are added to the beer that are not cooked. As a result, they give off a typical fresh citrus aroma and no hop bitterness.
